Cheek and chin augmentation can significantly improve one’s facial balance and youthful appearance, by establishing ideal anatomical relationships among facial structures.
Cheek and chin augmentation can be performed with implants, such as silicone, or with commercially available injectable materials, such as Restylane, Juvederm, Radiesse, Sculptra, and several others. Implants, however, provide the longevity that injectibles cannot offer.
In experienced hands, facial augmentation is safe and leads to natural and lasting results. Dr. Mashkevich is a UCLA-trained facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon, with the experience of performing cheek and chin augmentation in Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, and New York. He specializes in minimally invasive facial volume augmentation, with the use of proven implants and injectable products.
Is computer imaging and simulation available for Cheek and Chin Augmentation?
Yes. During your consultation, we will take your photographs from different angles and use them to simulate how your face would look after any augmentation procedure. You will have an opportunity to provide feedback during this process. Your surgical plan will mirror the changes you desire and are comfortable with.
How is Cheek and Chin Augmentation Performed?
Facial augmentation typically requires anesthesia or sedation. For most silicone implants, incisions can be placed inside your mouth, thereby avoiding a facial scar. Great care is taken to ensure sterility of any implant during placement.
Injectable augmentation is most commonly performed in the office, with minimal associated downtime.
Are there risks of implant infection or extrusion?
There is a small chance of infection with any implant. For facial silicone implants, the risk of infection is less than 5%, while the risk of extrusion is generally minimal.
What is the recovery like following Cheek and Chin Augmentation? When will I be able to return to Work?
With facial implants, plan to take about 5-7 days off from work. This time frame allows most of the swelling and bruising to subside. We take special precautions during surgery to minimize swelling and bruising, and ask you to use ice and apply special creams in the immediate few days that follow.
Most patients go home on the day of surgery, and are up and about within 24 hours.
Prior to your operation, we will provide you with a detailed set of instructions from our office, and will remain available 24-7 to answer any questions, should they arise.
Injectable facial augmentation has minimal associated downtime. Depending on the extent of the procedure, patients may return to work on the same day.
What about pain after Cheek and Chin Augmentation?
During the surgery, you will not feel any pain due to anesthesia and sedation. After the operation, most patients experience only mild to moderate discomfort, and may require prescription pain medications in the first 24-72 hours. Regular Tylenol is typically taken after that time frame, on as needed basis.
