Face Lift Healing

The process of face lift healing occurs in several phases. Immediately following your surgery, face lift healing occurs over a period of about one week, during which most of the swelling and bruising gradually dissipate.

For an office-based facelift, face lift healing occurs over a period of about 5-7 days. All other face lift healing occurs within 7-14 days, while swelling and bruising subside. We take special precautions during surgery to minimize swelling and bruising, and ask you to use ice and special creams in the immediate few days that follow.

Some minor swelling may persist for several weeks and beyond, however, this face lift healing period is not noticeable to your friends and family. Most patients are able to go out and feel wonderful about their new facial appearance, without worrying about a slight swelling they might still have.

Most patients go home on the day of surgery, and are up and about within 24 – 48 hours.

Prior to your operation, we will provide you with a detailed set of instructions from our office, and will remain available 24-7 to answer any questions, should they arise.

Case Study
This patient underwent a facelift operation to address redundant cheek skin, jowling, and a sagging neck. Post-operative profile view shows a completely natural, “non-operated” appearance, with excellent improvement of the jaw and neck contours. Face lift healing was fairly quick in this patient, with most swelling and bruising gone by about ten days after surgery.
