Liposuction surgery removes excessive neck fat and restores a more youthful neck contour. Liposuction is performed in a minimally invasive fashion via small access points under the chin and both ears.
In experienced hands, liposuction surgery leads to natural and long-lasting results. Good candidates for neck liposuction include those with good skin tone and favorable facial characteristics.
Liposuction requires an advanced skill-set and experience from your surgeon. Dr. Mashkevich is a UCLA-trained facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon, with the experience of performing liposuction in Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, and New York.
Is computer imaging and simulation available for Liposuction?
Yes. During your consultation, we will take your photographs from different angles and use them to simulate how your neck would look after liposuction. You will have an opportunity to provide feedback during this process.
How is Liposuction performed?
Standard liposuction incisions, only several millimeters wide, are placed under the chin and around the ears. These incisions are used to introduce a liposuction cannula, through which excess neck fat is aspirated. Neck liposuction typically lasts less than one hour.
What is the recovery like following Liposuction? When will I be able to return to Work?
Swelling and bruising following liposuction gradually subside within 5-10 days of surgery. We take special precautions during surgery to minimize swelling and bruising, and ask you to use ice and special creams in the immediate few days that follow.
Most patients go home on the day of surgery, and are up and about within 24 hours.
Prior to your operation, we will provide you with a detailed set of instructions from our office, and will remain available 24-7 to answer any questions, should they arise.
What about pain after liposuction?
During the surgery, you will not feel any pain due to anesthesia and sedation. After the operation, most liposuction patients experience mild to moderate discomfort, and may require prescription pain medications in the first 24-72 hours. Regular Tylenol is typically taken after that time frame, on as needed basis.
